Just what the therapist ordered

I am a clinician in a busy community services agency and recommend this to all my clients. It does not replace, but aids treatment. I have noticed that when people practice almost any technique that has some benefit on lowering their anxiety they can do themselves, it also contributes to their sense of self esteem/self-efficacy--the feeling of control they have over their lives!

Long Overdue! Much Needed!

This is an amazing resource. I use it in addition to counselling with many of my clients. I highly recommend it for personal and professional use!

Love it but...

I really enjoy this app and how it helps you but I really wish I could ad a situation that specific for me and add strategies to help with my own self help. If you could add that feature that would really help!

Good app except

Best Anxiety Management App

This is the best app that I have come across that helps manage anxiety. It helps the user understand anxiety. It helps in taking steps in managing anxiety through easy exercises. Well done!

Buggy, geared for a younger audience

Not to say this app has no use in adults, but it is clearly aimed at teenagers (I must have missed that in the description). I am finding it difficult to use as certain pages do not scroll; a tester needs to go through the app page-by-page and test every feature, so one does not miss identifying something for themselves. That said, there are great things to start with in regaining control (oops, sort of, in certain situations, ah you know what I mean...) of your anxiety.

Helps me a lot

This is a great app that helps me a lot during panic attacks and times of anxiety. Learning the facts about what anxiety is is very comforting and helpful in changing the way I understand it, and therefore reduces my anxiety. I especially like the "thinking right" sections which help me shift my negative thoughts and be more in control of anxiety. One technical issue I have is that the app freezes on pages so I cant scroll through. I have to go back to the home page to sort of refresh it. And yesterday the entire app froze and wouldnt open so I had to delete it and download it again. It was annoying because it erased my personal notes and I had to rewrite what I could remember. Please fix this ASAP! I really like this app. It helps me through some tough times

Please fix scrolling!

Please fix scrolling so people can actually view your content! I was looking forward to trying this app and but unable to scroll down on most pages.

Has potential

Contrary to another review on here, I find this app is aimed towards all those dealing with real anxiety. (Not just teenagers). This app allows you to identify the areas that are troubling you and shows you healthy alternative behaviours to help you through. Unfortunately it seems to be buggy and does not permit you to scroll down on the screen. A real shame because I could see myself using this app quite frequently otherwise.

Doesnt work well

Its a bit hard to relax and find a happy place when the app thats supposed to get you there freezes and doesnt scroll. Causes more frustration than its worth.

Fix bugs

I really would like to further use this app because i can already see it helping me with my anxiety, but the fact that it freezes alot and doesnt let me scroll on pages to read further, i may discontinue to use because of the more fustration i get just from all the freezing.

Great idea, sloppy execution

MindShift has great content: Audio tracks for things like mindful breathing and progressive muscle relaxation, techniques to reduce anxiety, etc. Though I got the app for the Chill Out Tools, the Thinking Right section has proven to be a great asset as well. It provides many prompts for more realistic thoughts, to help you reduce anxiety or stress in your life. You can also add your own thoughts to this section. But the app is buggy and sloppy. One frustrating bug is that often the screen goes white, requiring me to close and reopen the app. Another is that often scrolling stops working, again requiring me to close and reopen the app. These bugs make it infeasible to use the apps password option. Even without the bugs, the apps design seems amateurish. Despite all this, I would use this app all the time if not for one glaring oversight -- the Chill Out Tools tracks dont keep playing when the phone goes to sleep. If your phone is set to sleep after five minutes or less of inactivity, the Chill Out Tools are worthless. And since theyre the primary reason I got the app, this is incredibly frustrating for me. This app is meant to help you manage anxiety, but it runs counter to its own goal by causing a lot of stress.

If you have any kind of anxiety, you must download this incredible app. Ive never downloaded anything so helpful and easy to comprehend. REALLY helpful things in here, and it makes it very easy to follow.

Great potential

This app is genius. Im surprised that Im writing the first review. I downloaded it for a goal setting activity in my Sophomore Health class. I wanted to tackle my social anxiety. MindShift has helped me acknowledge my social anxiety in ways I never could have before. The app offers coping skills and the ability to check yourself when youre feeling anxious. Really awesome! I only wish that I could review the "Check Yourselfs" Ive made in the past. It would be interesting to see. Or some kind of "brain" that would calculate just what makes you feel anxious and gives you coping skills designed just for you. I wish it were more of a customizable app, I guess, which I could tailor to fit my specific anxiety. But its still a great start. I would reccomend this app to anybody struggling with anxiety. Hoping the next update will come soon!

FINALLY! Something to which I relate!

I was skeptical at first… I mean, come on, how could an app help me any better than the 3 or 4 doctors i have visited in the past few years? Well, Im glad I took the time to look at this app… it said something to me no single dr. ever had… you cannot live without anxiety. It was an "a-ha" moment for me. Im very happy that I downloaded this and it prompts me to set goals for myself from time to time… Im not the best at doing that. I think this app, along with regular visits to my dr, have really helped me over the last few months.

The iPhone Anxiety Cure

This is one of my most used apps on my iPhone. As an iPhone addict that is saying something. I suffer from anxiety and this is the ONLY thing that has truly helped med. Therapy, meds, and social support have helped me too but they are nothing compared to the independence and freedom that MindShift gives me. This app helps me take control of my anxiety. From five minute breathing exercises and muscle relaxation to taking a Mental Vacation- MindShift has it all. As a psychology major I can vouch for the validity of the techniques used in MindShift. The bottom line is simply this- MindShift WORKS.

Great potential and content

Despite the headline, I really need 1) clear summary page to show "my plan" in clear, concise form 2) would be great to have tracker/log to see what tools/quotes help most when/where. 3) would like syncing across devices 4) tho seems geared to teens/young adults, Id love more for us oldies but goodies too ;-)! Thanks!
